CUTTING DEMONSTRATION

INDUSTRIAL CNC ROUTER CUTTING COMPOUNDED MATERIAL

Recently one of the largest PVC compound manufacturers in the world reached out because they have a new product that they’ve been developing which they need to precision cut to specific sizes. Apparently they’ve reached out to several CNC router and cutter manufacturers and were brushed off. Due to the unique properties of the substrates, they were scared their tables couldn’t handle it. We were thrilled at the opportunity to show another function of our table.

The customer sent us a sample and in this video we show cutting with an Industrial CNC Router using a knife attachment.

The material is a flexible yet rigid PVC compounded substrate. It’s more durable and longer lasting than the traditional rubber matting that it will likely be replacing and as it manufactured from recycled materials it’s certainly more environmentally friendly.

One of the obstacles that the manufacturer is attempting to overcome is the cutting of this material. Currently they have workers cutting by hand with utility knives and they need a more precise and automated production process by adding a CNC machine to their production. So that’s where we come in.

We placed the material on our Artisan 408 4' x 8’ CNC Router Table with vacuum hold down to hold the substrate in place while being machined.

The knife we are using here is a great option for cutting just about any material you would cut with a traditional utility knife. Its compatible with any of our systems so be sure to ask about that if you have a project that a knife would be a good option for.
