They say that “Seeing is believing” and right out of the crate the first reaction to the robust build and construction of this system is one of surprise. When compared to other small format routers, the Short Cut 203 stands alone as the only small sized, industrial class CNC Router system available.
So what does it mean to be industrial class?
Well it starts with the foundation, namely the frame. This system features the same 4X4 Military Grade, Stress Annealed and Cold Rolled, Welded Steel frame that is featured on our larger systems.
This frame supports a full 30” x 50” Material Envelope with an open architecture work area which comes standard with a T Slot hold down system and we also offer an optional vacuum hold down bed.
The gantry drive incorporates our POSI TRAC, Dual Drive system. This system uses massive NEMA 34 direct drive motors on both side of the gantry, giving you increased speed and accuracy. Speaking of speeds, try finding another small format system reaching these rapid speeds and neck breaking accelerations, while holding up to two thousandths of an inch accuracy, dialed in tight with a simple Automatic Axis Calibration function.
While it would be cheaper and easier to use a little ball screw system, we went through the time and investment of engineering Massive 25MM linear rails with fully supported inversion rack and pinions to guarantee you’ll never experience the dreaded ball whip or screw sag that frustrates the owners of lesser systems that simply run a ball screw up the middle of the table.
This frame, bed and drive system structure is aerospace milled and optimized through Finite Elemental testing, Laser tramming and Digitally tuned, resonance elimination protocol to ensure the highest stability grade possible.
Like all of our pro series systems, the 203 features 12” of standard gantry clearance allowing you to process material up to 12” thick. The gantry beam on this guy is an 8” structural steel beam supported by 2” thick solid plate gantry uprights. (There is no lightweight aluminum used here)
The 203 comes standard with features that others consider upgrades. Not settling for wimpy, little off the shelf router heads or old fashioned air or fan cooled spindles, this system features our high frequency, variable speed, liquid cooled spindle. This is a self contain reservoir system designed for a lifetime of continuous quiet, maintenance free operation while chewing through the widest range of materials from woods and plastics to aluminum, solid surface materials, foams and more.
Included is the spindle mounted dust collection attachment AKA “dust shoe” with quick release gate and 4” ejection port for attaching to your dust collection or shop vac.
All your cables and hoses are kept enclosed and tangle free in our Pro Flex Cable Carrier wire chain.
Digital limit warnings function on all axis.
The removable control box houses all the electronics in a easily accessible and modular plug and play setup.
All of this is controlled by point and click, easy to use windows based control software. You can network this system on a local network or easily use external file transfer.
